Thorn-Clarke Wines have been growing grapes in the world-renowned Barossa region for over 130 years and through 6 successive generations. It began in the 1870's where one side of the family settled on a fruit farm and the other on the regions first gold mine.
The wines are highly acclaimed throughout the world with more than 20 trophies received at the International and Domestic levels and have been named a Halliday 5 star rated winery. In 2021 both the winery and the vineyards were certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia
The Real Review Top Wineries Certificate is awarded to a select group of wineries that consistently produce excellent wine. The Top Wineries list is a national benchmark that shows where your favourite winery is placed amongst its peers.

Peter Kelly
Peter has worked for wineries of all sizes including; Haselgrove, d’Arenberg, Rolf-Binder and Peter Lehmann. In 2009 whilst working with Thorn-Clarke Peter won the Wine Society ‘Young Winemaker of the Year’ award, then in 2010, he was awarded Dux of the Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine Assessment Course. More recently Peter has been a regular judge on the wine show circuit.
A tribute to a beloved member of the Thorn-Clarke family, the Ron Thorn Shiraz is the pinnacle expression of the wineries Barossa tradition. Made from the best fruit and produced only in exceptional years, this wine is given the benefit of 20 months of barrel maturation and 6 months in bottle prior to release. Single vineyard, Bronze medal winner at the 2022 Sydney Royal wine show.
Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia in 2021, Thorn Clarke has deployed a wide variety of practices throughout the vineyard and the winery. Biosecurity measures, fungicide programmes and native vegetation remediation in the vineyard and lowering energy usage as well as recycling and strict traceability are just a few changes now adopted in the winery.
