Sarae and John created ShowBlock in 2008 during the GFC with a single focus - to put smiles on faces as they imagined people sitting down to a delicious meal and sipping on some amazing wines with their loved ones. Sharing proud Greek heritage Sarae and John embrace everyone with their infectious personalities and quirky sense of humor. Wine life has always been in John’s blood with family growing wine grapes in McLaren Vale. He enjoyed a successful engineering career but the call was too strong to ignore so he began making handcrafted basket-pressed wine under the ShowBlock label from family-owned vineyards.Â
Sarae, obsessed with all things natural, organic and healthy, enjoyed a career as a Naturopath and Homoeopath and was President of the Organic Federation of Australia (SA). Her mission is to inspire and empower people to live healthy, vibrant, and joyful lives. This philosophy is infused in ShowBlock Wines.

ShowBlock was founded from the ‘garagistes’ tradition in the mid-1990’s of Bordeaux winemakers producing vins de garage (garage wine) which were more drinkable - bigger, bolder, fruitier wines to meet international wine tastes. Characterised as ’winemaker's wine’ whose attributes reflect a disregard for tradition of its particular terroir the vins de garage wines often come from previously unknown estates but are usually sold at prices driven high by rarity, hyperbole, and fashion.

Growing grapes and making wines with minimal intervention and a natural approach to producing clean, high-quality, authentic and charismatic wines became the manifesto. You’ll know from the first sip, as the flavours fill your mouth you’ve found wines crafted with your enjoyment in mind - not tradition.
