A Beechworth winery experience like no other

The Indigo Vineyard is located only 10 minutes from the Beechworth town area and is a highlight of any Beechworth wineries itinerary. We're famous for our winery lunch experience with pizzas and platters while enjoying our farmyard views.

Being open 7 days a week (check for public holiday times) it's easy for our guests to relax and enjoy the vineyard surrounds over our award-winning cellar door food platters, boutique wines or even stay longer in our farm stay lodge.

The Region

We act like a bit of a visitor information centre in our own right being one of the central places where you can sit, clear the mind and relax in our gardens in while you plan your trip to discover the sights and soul of the Beechworth region.

A tasting at our cellar door comes with a bit of extra help to find the areas to explore around Beechworth from a locals perspective.

Even better, use us as your Beechworth home base and book in for our Farm Stay accommodation. We're open for all of the months of the year and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Vineyard & View

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 12 different varieties of grapes. The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.

However, we have some special blocks planted on their own roots. These were planted from outstanding Shiraz vineyards including the Brokenwood Graveyard, the Rayner Vineyard and Seville Estate Old Vine. Our Roussanne was grown with cuttings from Giaconda vineyard.

Each block and variety are managed to achieve the very best from the grapes. Cabernet is spur pruned while the Pinot Noir is cane pruned, allowing for effective canopy management. We also experiment with arch cane pruning.

Explore Beechworth & Beyond

Beechworth is an easy three hours from Melbourne and is a great stop-over between Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra or as a destination for a short break.

With more than 32 buildings listed by the National Trust, Beechworth is Victoria’s best preserved historic gold mining town. The solid local granite buildings are hauntingly reminiscent of the days when the streets rang with the clamour and excitement of the quest for gold. More than four million ounces of gold was found from 1852. This heritage is celebrated on the Indigo Vineyard wine labels with the gold foil a tribute to a rich past and the regions winemaking history dating back to the Gold Rush.
