A story of two families who loved farming, with wine running deep in their veins
Named after the original estate owner - Helen Fraser, the opportunity arose in 1997 for the Nalder & McIntosh families to combine a love of farming and wine to establish and manage the day-to-day running of the winery. Upon entering the current-day property it becomes obvious that every facet of the winery is run passionately the “family way”. The winery sprawls across an impressive site that also includes a cellar door and a 140-seat restaurant with breathtaking views over a part of the Yarra Valley.

Scott McCarthy
From a young age, Scott worked vintages in the school holidays in the Mildura region, before commencing a winery role in the Barossa. His winemaking travels have taken him to the famous wine regions of Napa Valley, Languedoc, Loire Valley and Marlborough. Now settled in the Yarra Valley, his winemaking philosophy is simple - Take what mother nature gives. A sustainable and minimalist approach to viticulture creates some very special wines.

The unique area of Coldstream in the Yarra Valley
The perfect site was searched for within the Coldstream region of the Yarra Valley to establish vineyards. In particular, three characteristics were hills, microclimate and the famous Yarra Valley soils. This location would in turn help to make these wines truly unique to others in the region.
