Small batch, carefully crafted wines using emerging and alternative varietal grapes from a family-owned and operated vineyard at Currency Creek.
George is basically "Chief Decision Maker" in the vineyard. With a passion for good food and alternate and emerging varietal wines, you'll find him on the tractor, in the vines, walking the rows, testing, tasting, and consuming the product before it lands at your door. Farming is in his blood as his early days were spent in the world's biggest sandpit (Tintinara) and he just loves his girls (our herd of Angas Cows). If there's an improvement to be made anywhere on the vineyard, he'll find it. Improvements have included under vine cropping, extensive solar panel system, a new, efficient water pumping system and an off-grid farmhouse, amongst others. In his spare time, George enjoys water skiing, car racing, watching Rugby and Netball and spending time with the kids.
With a background in banking, pharmaceuticals, food wholesaling and real estate, together with a love of food and wine (she can sniff out a good restaurant from anywhere) it was probably natural that Jodie landed the sales and marketing role by default (actually, nobody else wanted it)! Organising is in her blood so she's taken on all those jobs such as dispatch, warehousing, inventory management, debtors, creditors, sales, couriers, website management, label design (in conjunction with her good friend, Frances, from McConnell Design), and then the fun stuff such as organising wine events and selling at local markets, with gusto. In her spare time, Jodie enjoys getting into her garden, cooking, catching up with friends, spending time with the kids and shopping (apparently, shopping should be top of the list though)!
One fateful day in December 2015, George came home and made the announcement that he had purchased said lifestyle property, but it came with a catch – an 88 acre vineyard fronting the Finniss River at Currency Creek!! Family laughed “yep, and Pigs Might Fly too”, “What a Pie in the Sky idea”, you are “Off with the Fairies” were some of the sayings bandied around that evening. Family did eventually adapt and now affectionately call said vineyard “George’s Folly”.
